El Niño is a natural phenomenon that can profoundly affect weather and climate patterns worldwide which can have an intense impact on agricultural productivity. According to the Department of Agriculture, the Municipality of Mansalay has suffered significant destruction, affecting 1,665 hectares of agricultural land, including rice fields and high-value crops.

In response to this problem, the DA ACPC organized the Survival and Assistance Program with Saklaw Foundation Inc., as a partner lending conduit. With regard to the above-mentioned program, the SFI provided loans to a total of 916 farmer beneficiaries with each recipient receiving twenty-five thousand pesos. The loans have zero interest and they are given three years to pay.

This joint venture fosters the recovery of strength and hope for the affected families and the community.
